I cannot begin to describe how proud i am of myself....with just some craft glue, a cutter, velcro strips and a box from an ikea purchase, I put together a cat condo for kutty. A double storey unit(3 floors if u include the rooftop), it comfortably houses a single cat, comes complete with a leopard print tube annex that has three entrances - ok enough of the real estate agent in me talking, here it is...

Herda got a tiny kitten recently (her brother brought him back from his army camp). Met up with her after taking Fuzzy(yes, thats his name!) to the vet. He was mewing pretty loudly and was probably hungry so we take him back. He is tiny, cuddly and slightly clumsy. So cute that u might want to eat him.

After a bit of play, we try to litter train him but that didn't last very long cos he was tired after his playtime

Kutty ran into the kitchen when she saw me come through the door when I got back from a 2 and a half week holiday, but slowly warmed up to me as she made herself at home in my backpack after i unpacked...

Prepping a cat for a cat show is really a lot of work. Applying groomer's goop makes her look funny, though it made her really fluffy after the treatment.

Shoe fetish

I dunno what is up with Kutty. Its nice to know that she likes my smell... but my shoes? I had a wiff of them myself... good thing it didn't stink like I thought it would.

Anyway I was at Ikea yesterday and I discovered that they have diversified into products for pets. They had toys, feeding dishes, mats, beds....wanted to get a wicker bed but it was a bit too big. Instead I got two catnip stuffed toys...

Dreamcatcher

One of the things that Kutty does when she is in my room is to play with the dream catcher that Amran gave me for my birthday a few years ago. I will have to move it to a higher location if I start getting nightmares.

Cardboard Barricade

I was bleaching the kitchen counters today and didn't want Kutty coming into contact with the fumes of the bleach so i made this barricade, thought I was sure that she could easily jump over the boxes. At least it stalled her for a while.

Not cat-safe(yet)

I have put off putting up a mesh fencing at the kitchen balcony for very long now. Kutty just loves sticking her head thru the grills to look out at going-ons below. But I always close the door to the balcony when I am not in the kitchen as I once found her standing on the very narrow ledge behind the grill. It was just too scary seeing her perform a death defying stunt like that.

I heard the sound of somthing falling to the floor when I was in my bedroom. I ran out and found Kutty sandwiched between the window and the window grille, looking out to the playground below.

Catshow

I never thought that I would go to one of these things, but yes I actually did. Its was quite surreal seeing a hall with many different cats in cages, in a variety of breeds and colours. There were 4 judging rings and it was quite intresting to watch and also quite comical at times. This judge(below) from Japan "spoke" to each of the cats that she handled prior to judging them. What was interesting was that most of the cats seemed calm after her brief "chat" with them and didn't struggle as some did with some of the other judges.

I better start holding up kutty the way they the judges do should I decided to sign her up in one of these shows.

Kutty caused my parents to miss their flight today by going missing for a while. Well mebbe it wasn't entirely her fault. I think my parents should be partly responsible as they were still packing at 2pm for a 3.30pm flight. Usually before I leave for work I just check to see where she is but today I could not locate her anywhere in the house this afternoon. After searching her usual napping spots my dad told me to unpack all the luggage in case she crept into one of the bags while they were packing, but she was not in any of the bags. We both searched the void deck and playground in case she ran out of the house when the door was left open when my dad was throwing the trash, but was no where to be seen. 10 minutes later I hear my mum calling us back from the balcony. I rushed back to see if she had returned home. My mum said that she has been in her cupboard all this time. She probably crept into it when it was left open while my mum was packing. Mebbe its Kutty's tactic of trying to get them to stay.

My mum said that such a pretty cat would probably not be returned if found by someone. I better start saving for a generous reward. Just in case.

Kutty didn't get her 3rd vaccinations shot the last time we were at the vet cos the vet wanted to be sure that she was not ill(she vomited a few days earlier) before getting her shots. She was pretty co-operative until the time came for her temperature to be taken...

Kutty puked last night so I took her to the vet. She does not like cab rides. The vet didn't want to give her her vaccination jab just in case she might still be sick.

Today I brought Kutty home. Kutty is a chocolate tortie Birman that I got from a local Birman breeder. Before I get dissed for being an impulse pet owner, I did give a lot of thought and consideration before getting a her (been looking for more than 6 months}. I also have to clarify my reasons for getting a pedigree from a breeder(instead of getting one from a pet shop or the SPCA)...I just am not prepared to adopt a cat of with a temperament could not handle.

On the day i picked kutty up, I had to be at the breeders house at 6.30am before she left for work. We went through Kutty's papers, vaccinations, feeding pattern and general care for her. I could have taken her back on Saturday afternoon but Mum insisted that I bring kutty home on Friday as it is considered auspicious to bring in a female(human or animal) on a Friday.

Bringing her into the house, the first place I had to take her to was the litter box so that from wherever in the house she went to, she could still find her way back to the litter box. She spent the day exploring the house and slept a lot. And slept some more.
